The ABC of quarantine
by Leonie Poppe
The ABC of quarantine - defense, awareness and corona
Never before has our generation been thrown back on itself so much. Never before have restrictions on daily life been so real and changes so clear. Our own free actions are restricted in order to help the whole. (A major restriction on our entire lives. And that really applies to every area.) It is currently no longer possible to escape this situation emotionally and mentally. My eyes and ears are already buzzing with all the “quarantine”, “home office”, “#stayathome” and “wash your hands”.
Nevertheless, I would like to take this opportunity to share my thoughts with you. I would like to briefly explain how junglück is dealing with COVID-19 and what is important to us.
Let’s take the whole thing from the back and start with C for Corona!
The World Wide Web is truly a blessing and a curse in times like these. On the one hand, it helps us to be close to others across walls, cities, countries and continents. As close as is possible in quarantine. But on the other hand, it also spreads fake news faster than the virus itself can spread. That's why it's so important to us to summarize the latest information on Corona and give you a well-founded overview. True to the motto of transparency.
Because we are here for you, despite Corona. Even if our office in Munich remains empty for the time being, we work individually and together from home. We are still happy to answer your questions and comments. You can find more answers from us here , especially on the topic of Corona!
[Mr]
COVID-19 - Coronavirus disease 2019
- Definition: infectious lung disease (acute respiratory syndrome
- caused by infection with the coronavirus subtype SARS-CoV-2
- first detected in Wuhan/China in December 2019
- Symptoms: flu-like; fever, cough and fatigue;
- severe cases with respiratory distress and intensive care treatment
- Incubation period (the time between infection and first clinical symptoms): between 2 and 14 days
- Droplet infection: Transmission occurs from person to person through secretions that are excreted through sneezing and coughing.
- Hands as transmitters: Through contact with the secretion and, for example, touching the face
- Transmission via surfaces: Possible! For example, if you recently touch contaminated objects and then touch your face (contact infection or “smear infection”)
- Infection via packages, luggage etc.: very unlikely!
- Duration of contagiousness: approximately 8 days after the first appearance of symptoms. The virus can be transmitted even if the affected person does not show any symptoms.
Is wearing a mask helpful?
For people who are already infected, a mask is useful to protect others and minimize the spread of secretions. In the general population, however, wearing a mask can actually be counterproductive. Surgical masks lose their barrier function when they become moist (from breathing). And by positioning the mask, germs and viruses can get into the respiratory tract even more easily.
COVID-19 and ibuprofen
Some information on this has also been circulating in the media and has caused a lot of confusion. Ibuprofen was suspected of worsening the course of a COVID-10 infection. So far, however, the situation is that taking ibuprofen (and other drugs in its class) to reduce fever should only be done if the benefits of the ibuprofen effect outweigh the disadvantages of the side effects (strict indication). And this is independent of a COVID-19 infection. A COVID-19-specific effect is still being tested!
Of course, the figures and facts refer only to the current state of affairs. [1]
B for consciousness
When we all look into the uncertain future and think about what will happen to the world, we often have very mixed feelings. Many people distract themselves and suppress what the corona quarantine is doing to their inner being. Others, on the other hand, become creative and inventive. There is no question that this exceptional situation is associated with a lot of suffering. Families are being torn apart by the virus, there are numerous deaths and people are losing their jobs and security.
Nevertheless, I am firmly convinced that everything in life has two sides. That alongside suffering and fear there is also a positive side that we can focus on. For example, when I read the texts of futurologist Michael Horx ( kurier.at ) or listen to his interviews, I almost feel a faint hint of euphoria.
Because it becomes clear to me: things happen that nobody expected. Nothing is really certain. And yet at the same time we are being given a huge opportunity. A chance that everything will get better. That possibilities will open up that we didn't see before or perhaps couldn't see because we were too busy chasing after our lives. And above all, that what we at junglück have been fighting for from the very beginning can become reality. That we should start to get involved with nature and ourselves again. We should listen to each other again and recognize what and, above all, who is really important to us. To be able to reorganize and reorient ourselves. Towards even more sustainability and social responsibility.
That regional and small companies give us enough diversity every day and that we recognize that we should become independent again. That we learn again: We are all equal/ Be grateful for the opportunities that are given to you every day/ Only together can we overcome such challenges.
But it's not just us who get a chance to find our way back, but our planet too. The forced slowdown gives us room to breathe - in the truest sense of the word.

A for defense
And this brings me to a very important point. How can I strengthen my immune system in times like these? Actually, we know. We know what we have to do to be healthy: healthy eating, enough exercise and fresh air. We've read all this a hundred times. And yet bad habits often creep in. We're in a hurry, rushing from meeting to meeting. We look after the children at home and then completely forget to take a bite of the cucumber that we so conscientiously put out for the family.
We are struggling with the new challenges, such as working from home and spending a lot of time at home. But what now? The time has come to introduce new habits into our lives. We need structure!
That's why home workout programs are so popular and we're literally bombarded with tips. What's the best way to pass the time? And how can I structure my day as effectively as possible?
However, there are two things that are particularly important to me at this point:
- Don't forget how important oxygen is for you! Breathe. And take the time to do this consciously at least once a day, for 10 deep breaths.
- Eat healthily! Not just pasta and ready-made sauces. The girls from epifood , for example, have wonderful recipes and suggestions on their website and in their great cookbook. You're sure to find something delicious here that you can cook for yourself and your loved ones.
Above all, the two women from Munich have made it their mission to show you how you can "eat healthily". They avoid industrial sugar, wheat flour and milk in their recipes. They also tell you about the nutrients contained in the food. Take a look at their website and let yourself be inspired.
Because healthy nutrition, oxygen and exercise are the be-all and end-all for a healthy gut and ultimately for a healthy immune system. And the cycle goes even further. Our gut health is also reflected in our skin. If our gut is strong and full of energy, our skin cells will shine. A real domino effect! Use this sensitive time for your health and love for yourself. And in my opinion, that includes the right care for your skin. We in Germany still have the privilege of not just dreaming of a healthy lifestyle, but of actively integrating, celebrating and living it.
In times like these it becomes even clearer that this cannot be taken for granted.
junglück in Corona times - what`s next?
And that's why it's so important to us: We are "better together"! We want to spread "small business love", raise awareness of small businesses and the self-employed. Support each other.
We feel so connected to you as an important part of our loyal community and would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support across all channels.
It is clearer to us than ever how crucial it is that we at junglück pay even more attention to our core values. Sustainability, transparency and social responsibility, together with communication and solidarity. So much more than just a promise. A way of life.
We hope so much that this time teaches us to treat ourselves, our fellow human beings and our planet better. That we can finally press the reset button to realize that things cannot continue like this. That more awareness and more attention must be brought to where we need it.
This is the only way we can create a greener and sustainably healthy future together. Let us be aware of our privileges and fill our hearts with love and gratitude. Because if one thing is certain, it is that the earth can get along pretty well without us, but we cannot without it. Rethinking starts with you, with me, with us!
The entire junglück team wishes you all the best from the home office.
Take care of yourself, stay healthy and use the time for yourself!
Your Leonie
