JUNGLÜCK & Women for Women International support Ukrainian women
by Lena Severin
For our campaign for International Women's Day 2022, we took to the streets and asked passers-by a question: How would you describe yourself?
Brave today, fearful tomorrow, sometimes patient, often impulsive, powerful but also vulnerable. Contradictions? No. We are women. We are multifaceted. We are so much more than can be pigeonholed. And we wanted to prove that with our campaign.
We have created a canvas bag that you can use to show off the great qualities of women. And because we didn't just want to spread empowerment with this message, but also to create a greater impact with targeted support, we collected donations for the week around International Women's Day. With every bag purchased, we donated 5 CHF to Women for Women International to enable women from crisis areas to lead self-determined lives again. With the bag as an everyday companion, you are making a statement and together we were able to support Women for Women International in their mission. Namely, to help women from crisis areas to build self-determined lives.
889 CHF to support Ukrainian women
Women for Women International has been supporting women who have experienced war to rebuild their lives for almost 30 years. With regard to the war in Ukraine, they are providing targeted help where help is most urgently needed: directly at the border and in Warsaw. In order to be able to act as efficiently as possible, Women for Women International has joined forces with partner organizations. One of them is Bereginia - Mariupol's Women's Association, which supports female refugees and war survivors in the border region. In the next few weeks, Women for Women International will be expanding its support of local organizations to support women who have had to stay behind in Ukraine and have experienced sexual violence.
In Poland, the employees of Women for Women International were able to exchange ideas with their partner organizations and the refugee women to find out what resources they most urgently need. The focus here is primarily on psychosocial support and trauma counseling and the creation of "safe spaces" for women from Ukraine and third countries. But advice and prevention of gender-based violence, legal advice and assistance with vocational training and other support are also offered.
It is precisely this commitment that we support with the donations we have raised through our International Women's Day campaign in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium. 889 CHF to be exact.
