1. Our ultimate self-care helpers: face masks
Sunday afternoon, rain, winter, everything grey on grey... the absolute best conditions to take time for yourself, to relax and to leave everyday life behind you for a while. Unfortunately, our days are not always designed to put our feet up and devote ourselves to extensive care rituals. Often enough the motto is: "The main thing is to be quick". There is little time in the morning or we simply don't feel like spending a long time in the bathroom. It's better to sleep in or have a leisurely breakfast. The minutes we spend applying creams, oils and serums can be a nice ritual to care for not only our skin but also our soul. Now and then it can be a little more pampering. For those little spa moments at home you need the right products. Candles, tea, healthy snacks, bath oil and? Face masks! No matter what your week looks like, whether it's packed with appointments and to-dos or a lot of free time and social life - a few minutes of care, time out and focus on yourself are really important.
2. What’s inside and what do they do?
Hemp oil mask
What is hemp oil?
Most people probably associate hemp with a little foray into the world of intoxication rather than with cosmetics. However, the plant has far greater potential and therefore deserves not to be labelled as cannabis or marijuana.
What exactly is hemp oil and how do CBD and THC differ?
Hemp oil is extracted from the seeds of the so-called edible or industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa), which only contains traces of cannabinoids. CBD oil, on the other hand, is made from the buds, leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. Industrial hemp also contains no THC. THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, the ingredient responsible for the pain-relieving and intoxicating effects. The oil from industrial hemp seeds can therefore be used in the bathroom without any risk of intoxication.
Hemp oil is only produced in farms that are authorized by the state to grow this special type of industrial hemp. The hemp seeds are cold and gently pressed for production. This means that the ingredients are preserved much better. Around 350 liters of oil can be produced per ton of hemp seeds. After the seeds have been harvested, washed and dried, they are freed from their shells. The oil is then extracted using special oil mills. This makes it a very valuable oil with a complex and complicated harvesting process. The yellow-greenish color comes from the chlorophyll or the carotenoids it contains.
What ingredients does our hemp oil contain?
Hemp seeds contain around 30-35% fat. This fat is almost completely separated from the rest of the seeds during pressing. The remaining seeds usually have a lot of protein and can be used as animal feed. This means that the hemp plant can be used in several ways.
Hemp oil is particularly characterized by its unique fatty acid composition. The essential fatty acids can be absorbed directly by the human skin and develop their effect. They support the skin's natural protective barrier, prevent bacteria from penetrating and protect it from drying out. Compared to other oils, hemp oil impresses with its exceptional ratio of unsaturated fatty acids. Alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid EPA and docosahexaenoic acid DHA are among the omega-3 fatty acids. Their anti-inflammatory effect is particularly beneficial for skin suffering from psoriasis and neurodermatitis. In addition, there are omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential for skin cell renewal and stimulate cell growth. Red and itchy skin irritations can be improved by the antimicrobial effect of stearic acid, for example. Like all oils, hemp oil also provides the antioxidant vitamin E and thus protects us from free radicals. In summary, the valuable ingredients soothe sensitive and irritated skin, allow pimples and wounds to heal faster and strengthen the resilience of our skin barrier.
Clay mask
Clay is one of the oldest raw materials that was used thousands of years ago and still benefits our well-being today. Clay, also known as mineral clay or healing clay, was created many millions of years ago during the Ice Age. Rocks were ground into fine particles by weather conditions in the glacier. This rock dust collected in depressions in the ground and was pressed through layers of earth under high pressure over time. This fine loose rock consists of the mineral components quartz, lime and clay minerals, among others.
After processing, a fine, colored powder remains. The different colors depend on the origin. The effect also varies depending on the mining area. All clays contain important trace elements such as iron oxide, silica and silicon. Aluminum, calcium, magnesium and sodium salts as well as manganese compounds and phosphates are also typical components.
White clay, or kaolin, is named after the oldest known location where it was found, Gao-Ling in China. It is considered the finest mineral clay and is extremely gentle on the skin. It is therefore particularly suitable for dry and sensitive skin.
How do clays work?
The effectiveness of the minerals is varied. If the clay is applied to the skin in the form of a mask, a suction effect is created. The mineral clay binds fat, sebum and wound secretions, but also bacteria and adhering substances. This makes it particularly interesting for oily skin. The grainy structure removes dead skin cells, cleanses the skin of impurities and prevents the formation of spots. By stimulating blood circulation, wound healing is accelerated and the skin's appearance is refined. Mother Nature has once again provided us with a true care miracle.
3. Our guide to relaxation
Now that you know what's in our new masks and how they affect your skin, it's time to put it into practice: Relaxation! You probably know best what contributes to your personal Zen status. On a grey day, go to the sauna. Take a relaxing bath (or foot bath for those without a bathtub). Food porn on your plate. Immerse yourself in a good film or your current favorite book. Self-care is so much more than just body care. It's a ritual that cares for your skin and caresses your soul. Sounds cheesy? It's okay!
We have compared self-care routines in the JUNGLÜCK team and collected them for you as inspiration:
Step1:
Free the boobs, get rid of the bra! Put on your joggers or a soft bathrobe. Put on thick socks – and get cozy!
Step 2:
For all of us, our self-care routine starts with cleansing our face. Most people treat themselves to this special time out in the evening, so cleansing is the perfect start to get rid of the dirt and dust of the day.
Step 3:
What would me-time be without a face mask? The team unanimously decided: We won't do things by halves. While our new masks are working on our clean faces, we soak in the bathtub, leaf through magazines, watch our favorite series, meditate, or let our feet splash in the footbath.
Step 4:
Despite all the pampering, we still like to be efficient and wash off the mask directly in the shower or in the bathtub.
Step 5:
Who knows the feeling of getting into a freshly made bed after a fresh shower? Just the thought of it gives me 100% comfy vibes. That's why I often treat myself to a me-time hour after I've tidied the apartment, cleaned it and got the housework ready. What could be nicer than relaxing in a clean and tidy apartment?
Your path to relaxation may look a little different to ours, but it is important that we all take the time to look after ourselves and put the rest of the world on pause for a moment. The small home spa can work wonders with the right equipment. From the right routine for those little moments of relaxation in everyday life to the extensive ritual for your personal self-care time. And with our new masks you are not only doing something good for your skin and soul, but also for the environment. Win, win, win, I would say. And now: turn off the world, put the relaxation mode on and Mmm...
