In this article we explain everything you need to know about the “facial toner” care step and our new active ingredient sprays.

- A facial toner for soothing & care: Calendula facial toner
- A facial toner against pimples
- A facial toner peeling for sensitive skin
- Refreshing and effective: facial toner for your daily care
1. What is a facial toner and why should I use it?
Regardless of whether you have dry, normal or impure skin, a facial toner gives your skin a refreshing feeling. Half cleansing, half care, it provides your skin with soothing, pore-cleansing and invigorating properties. With the right active ingredients, you can adapt the liquid cosmetic product to your skin type and condition. The finest residues (sebum, make-up) are removed from the skin, the skin's appearance is optimized and moisture prevents the skin from feeling tight.
2. A facial toner for soothing & care: Calendula facial toner
What's inside?
Marigolds (Calendula officinalis) were already used as a medicinal plant in the 12th century. Particularly sensitive, dry or cracked skin benefits from the soothing and anti-inflammatory effect. We now also know what the marigold owes its healing effect to. Its repertoire of valuable ingredients includes secondary plant substances, bitter substances and allantoin. The latter ensures the regeneration and renewal of cells, for example in wound healing, and also has moisturizing, smoothing and antioxidant effects.
The bitter substance calendulin not only gives the marigold its botanical name Calendula officinalis, but also nourishes and regenerates the skin, soothes irritations and has a pain-relieving effect. The so-called flavonoids are powerful antioxidants that protect the organism from "free radicals" and thus support the body's immune system and cell renewal. Beta-carotene, which gives the marigold petals their color, is converted in the body into vitamin A, which in turn maintains the skin's elasticity and regulates its sebum production.
The marigold is actively supported by ectoin . The amino acid was originally discovered in bacteria and stabilizes the biological structure as a natural stress protection molecule. This prevents water loss. Ectoin also protects the cell membranes of our skin cells by forming a film and strengthens weakened skin barriers.
The third, powerful active ingredient is organic green tea extract , a great antioxidant that protects your skin from oxidative stress, binds moisture and improves skin structure. The main active ingredient is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Admittedly, this name is hard to pronounce, let alone remember. It's easier to read zinc, potassium and vitamin C, which inhibit inflammation, regulate water balance and protect you from free radicals.
As you can see, our Calendula facial toner contains a variety of valuable ingredients that not only give you a pleasant freshness, but also soothe skin irritations and moisturize your skin.
Who is the facial toner suitable for?
Our Calendula facial toner is suitable for all skin types. It is perfect for normal skin as well as oily skin. Thanks to its soothing and moisturizing properties, dry and sensitive skin types benefit particularly.
3. A facial toner against pimples
Zinc - A trace element with great importance for the skin
In order to cleanse your skin of dirt, excess sebum and make-up right down to the pores, we recommend a gentle but thorough cleansing with a facial toner after cleansing with water and a product of your choice. Our zinc facial toner frees your skin of the last, smallest residues and excess sebum. This leaves your skin wonderfully moisturized and perfectly prepared for the further care it receives from you, such as a serum or your moisturizer.
After iron, zinc is the most important trace element for humans. As a component of more than 300 enzymes, it has a wide range of effects in almost all areas of metabolism. Enzymes are the engines of our cells and enable all necessary biochemical reactions in our body to run correctly. In order for them to carry out their task conscientiously, they often need the support of additional screws.
And this is where zinc comes into play: As a stabilizing building block or as a direct reaction partner, zinc is involved in many enzymatic reactions. Among other things, it supports antioxidant processes, the transport of oxygen in red blood cells, growth and regeneration processes, and the stabilization of biomembranes and the cytoskeleton. Through its direct involvement in collagen synthesis, zinc also ensures the formation of healthy skin, hair, and nails. But zinc can do even more: by inhibiting specific metabolic pathways, the molecule balances out excessive sebum production, which leads to oily and blemished skin, especially during puberty. Zinc also binds moisture and deprives bacteria of the breeding ground they need to multiply and promote skin blemishes.
These great effects can even be confirmed scientifically. A study has shown that a zinc deficiency can promote symptoms such as inflammation, eczema, pimples and impaired wound healing.
In our new facial toner, zinc does not have to work alone. It is supported by niacinamide , the active form of vitamin B3. Niacinamide reduces sebum production, has an anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect, which can lead to a visible improvement in the complexion.
The additional horsetail extract from controlled organic cultivation has a particularly high natural content of silica and therefore has a skin-renewing, pore-refining and anti-inflammatory effect.
Our zinc facial toner reliably takes care of all residues, cleanses your skin deep down to the pores and counteracts impurities.
Who is the facial toner suitable for?
Our zinc facial toner is particularly suitable for impure, oily and combination skin. The natural trace element works against impurities and ensures a clear and even complexion. In combination with effective plant extracts, however, every skin type benefits and can discover the clarifying facial toner for themselves.

Refreshment & nourishing ingredients for your skin.
4. A facial toner peeling for sensitive skin: PHA
If you are familiar with our range, you may have already seen our BHA or AHA peeling. With the PHA facial toner, we have developed an even better tolerated version of the two fruit acid peelings.
As a reminder: BHA, AHA and PHA belong to the family of hydroxy acids. They have an exfoliating effect on the skin and are often gentler than mechanical peelings, such as brushes or grainy creams and gels. The great thing about our chemical peelings: You don't have to wash them off and you can easily incorporate them into your evening routine and let them work overnight.
But back to PHA! In terms of compatibility for sensitive skin, PHA is the mildest option. BHA is also suitable for sensitive skin in principle, but you should test it carefully and not use it every evening. You should not use AHA if you have very sensitive skin, as it could be too much for your skin and it could react with redness.
Precisely because PHA is so mild, we decided to use a facial toner rather than a liquid peeling. This is because the facial toner with PHA is actually intended for daily use. It has a very gentle exfoliating effect and provides moisture, which is particularly important for dehydrated skin in order to stabilize the moisture balance.
What's inside?
PHA – Polyhydroxy acid
The effect of our key ingredient at a glance:
- even milder than AHA & BHA
- removes dry skin flakes particularly gently
- improves moisture absorption & strengthens the skin barrier
- stimulates skin renewal
Betaine
Betaine is a secondary plant substance that is extracted from sugar beet. More precisely, it is obtained as a byproduct from molasses production. And this is what the plant-based active ingredient can do for our skin:
- improves the skin's ability to retain moisture
- protects against dehydration
- soothes irritations
- keeps the skin supple
Blackberry leaf extract
The blackberry leaves from which our extract is obtained come from wild collection in Europe. Did you know that blackberry leaf extract has a very special effect in skin care?
- inhibits collagen degradation
- Prevents sun-induced skin aging
- maintains skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles
Application of PHA facial toner
To ensure that these valuable ingredients can develop their full effect, use the PHA facial toner after cleansing as the second step in your evening routine. The best way to do this is to spray it onto a cotton pad and apply it to your face. Avoid the eye area. After a short exposure time, you can continue with your routine!
5. Refreshing and effective: facial toner for your daily care
Facial toners are an ideal option for supplying your skin with active ingredients. Instead of or in addition to serums, for example. At the same time, they offer a wonderful wellness effect, because if you keep them in the fridge in summer, you get a cooling effect in the morning or evening - and you can even do it hands-free. Skin care couldn't be easier!
