But let's start from the beginning: What is this strange-sounding ingredient anyway, what exactly does it do to your skin and how do you best use the serum? You will find out all this and more in the next few lines.

  1. What is azelaine?
  2. What effect does the Azelain Serum have?
  3. Application: How to integrate the Azelain Serum into your skincare routine

1. What is azelaine?

Azelain is an absolute trend ingredient in cosmetics! Azelain is a real asset in the care of oily and blemished skin.
The active ingredient is of plant origin and is known for its calming effect on inflammation. This property makes azelain particularly valuable for the care of pimples, which are basically nothing more than small inflammations in the skin. But sensitive skin that is prone to rosacea also benefits from this hero ingredient. Azelain helps the skin to protect us from external influences such as germs and bacteria by soothing the inflamed areas and helping to heal blemishes through its antibacterial and antioxidant effects. This allows the skin's protective barrier to regenerate and makes it much harder for new germs and bacteria to settle in our skin.

2. What effect does the Azelain Serum have?

When developing our Azelain Serum, we opted for a combination of four active ingredients. In addition to the eponymous azelain, the milky-white serum contains zinc PCA, blueberry extract and horsetail extract. The ingredients complement the effect of the azelain wonderfully to give your skin exactly what it needs.

Active ingredient azelaine:

  • reduces pimples and blemishes
  • mattifies the complexion and regulates sebum production
  • has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects
  • lightens acne scars and evens out the skin tone

Active ingredient Zinc PCA:

  • also known as zinc salt
  • PCA is a component of the skin’s own moisturizers
  • Moisturizing and antimicrobial (acts against microorganisms, bacteria, fungi, etc.)

Active ingredient blueberry extract:

  • strong antioxidant with high vitamin C content
  • protects the skin from oxidative stress
  • has an anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing effect
  • protects against premature light-induced skin aging

Active ingredient horsetail extract:

  • from controlled organic cultivation
  • particularly high silica content
  • has a skin-renewing, pore-refining and anti-inflammatory effect

What does that mean exactly?

The Azelain Serum is suitable for direct application to blemishes. Similar to the pimple paste, it directly and specifically takes care of acute pimples, blackheads, redness, etc. Oily shine becomes a thing of the past thanks to the matting effect. Mild but effective care for your skin!

3. Application: How to integrate the Azelain Serum into your skincare routine

According to the layering principle, you apply the Azelain Serum in the third step: Act. Basically, we always apply skin care products from thin to thick. Oils come last, or before sunscreen in the morning.

As a reminder:
Step 1: Clean
Here you can use the cleansing gel – ideal for oily or impure skin
Step 2: Clarify
This is where facial toner comes in. Fast-acting active ingredients that care for your impure or oily skin – for example in Zinc facial toner .
Step 3: Work
This is where the Azelain Serum comes into play! Serums and concentrates can take effect here.
Step 4: Care
Time for nourishing creams, such as our Hyaluron Cream products . If you like, you can complement your care with a pure facial oil .
Step 5: Protect
Don’t forget sun protection for the day!

If you use the Azelain Serum, shake it well before opening. In the morning and evening, you can then put two to three drops on your fingertips and spread them over your face. Avoid the eye area, but massage the T-zone in particular, as this is where blemishes and an oily shine occur, especially with oily skin. Allow it to take effect for a short time and then carry on with your routine.

You can also use the serum during pregnancy! If you get hormonal-related blemishes during this time or your skin has become more sensitive, the serum can provide you with relief.
