social commitment
WE WANT TO GIVE BACK SOME OF OUR HAPPINESS.
For us, it is a matter of course to give something back. More precisely, a part of our economic success. That is why 1% of our turnover goes to the environment, including to socially and ecologically committed organizations.
We are convinced that with small and big steps we can help make the world a little better every day.
HOW WE SELECT ENGAGEMENTS
All projects that we support are carefully selected and are very important to us. When selecting suitable commitments, we base our decisions on criteria that are relevant to us. For example, we make sure to only select projects where at least 80% of the donations go directly to the commitment, which practice honest, open communication and publish regular updates. In addition, we base our decisions on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals , or SDGs for short, which are important to us.
WE ARE COMMITTED WORLDWIDE
Since we source our raw materials from all over the world, our commitment knows no national borders. On this world map you can see where the projects we currently support are located. Feel free to click on the project you would like to find out more about.

1. OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL IN NTAMBO, MALAWI
Helping people to help themselves – the most sensible way to tackle social inequalities and challenges in a sustainable way. Our founder Benedikt also sees it this way. That is why we decided very early on to build a school in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world, to give 600 children access to education.

2. ONE PRODUCT = ONE TREE FOR MADAGASCAR
As you probably know, we plant a mangrove tree in Madagascar for every JUNGLÜCK product sold together with Eden Reforestation Projects. Since we started supporting the project – i.e. since 2018 – over 2 million trees have been planted. However, we are currently working on a new concept for our commitment, about which we will of course keep you up to date.

3. CLEAN DRINKING WATER FOR EVERYONE
Around two billion people in the world still do not have access to clean drinking water. To get water, people often have to travel long distances, as in Kono in Sierra Leone. Often the only water available is surface water from rivers and lakes, which must first be boiled over an open fire before it can be used safely. This produces harmful smoke and releases greenhouse gases. This is neither good for the environment nor for people's health.
With the Gold Standard certified climate protection project “Clean Drinking Water” in Kono, Sierra Leone, we offset the emissions of our corporate and product footprint together with ClimatePartner.

4. YOUNG LUCK AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING
Fortunately, animal testing for cosmetic products has been banned in the EU since 2013. However, since there are some loopholes here too, we cover ourselves with everyone involved in our supply chain and can confirm: Our products and their raw materials are neither tested on animals nor do they contain animal ingredients. This is also confirmed by our "PETA Approved Vegan Global Animal Test Policy" certification, which we have held since October 2021.
Since it is not enough for us to "just" speak out against animal testing, because the well-being of all living creatures is very important to us, we support the association Doctors Against Animal Testing eV with a supporting membership. Thanks to your support, we were also able to donate a further 1150 CHF during our 2020 Happiness Week.

5. AGAINST THE PLASTIC FLOOD
We demand: less plastic, more environmental protection! The fact is that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish swimming in the oceans. A problem that affects us all! That's why we try to avoid plastic in our products as much as possible - unfortunately we haven't managed to do it completely yet, but we hope to solve this challenge soon.
Our shipping boxes are already 100% plastic-free and made from recycled paper fibers. We compensate for the greenhouse gas emissions that unfortunately inevitably arise during the production of our shipping boxes through the "Marine Protection" climate protection project in Haiti, Indonesia, Brazil and the Philippines, which is carried out by the Plastic Bank organization. This allows us to support a project that supports local residents in the fight against plastic pollution.

MEMBERSHIPS
In order to create systemic change towards greater sustainability, we have joined forces with several other people.
#STRONGERTOGETHER WITH STARTUPS FOR TOMORROW
We are co-founders of the Startups For Tomorrow association. Together with like-minded start-ups, we want to give sustainable companies and products a platform, offer tips for a greener lifestyle, create interdisciplinary networks, attend demonstrations and launch campaigns and petitions. Because together we must and can change something in order to achieve our goal: a more sustainable and healthier world in which social and ethical business is not a vision but a reality.
The Alliance for Development and Climate was founded to mobilize funds from private individuals, associations, institutions and companies to support international climate protection. Its overarching goal is to achieve the Paris Climate Agreement.

WHAT ARE SDGs?
The United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) form an ambitious political agenda that aims to promote sustainable transformation globally based on ecological, social and economic goals. The objectives contained therein apply to industrialized countries as well as developing and emerging countries. In addition to the goal of reducing poverty and hunger worldwide, the agenda also includes environmental protection, support for equality, improving health, promoting innovation and much more.
You can read more about the individual goals here .
